The Cruiserweight Championship was a professional wrestling championship in World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), formally in World Championship Wrestling (WCW). It was challenged by cruiserweights at the maximum of 225lbs. During the WWE Brand Extension, it was only competed for under the SmackDown brand throughout most of the time as an active title.

In March 2001 the World Wrestling Federation purchased World Championship Wrestling. Soon after, "The Invasion" took place, in which The Alliance was ultimately dismantled. Following Survivor Series 2001, the title was renamed the WWF Cruiserweight Championship, replacing the WWF Light Heavyweight Championship but later referred to it as the WWE Cruiserweight Championship in 2002 after the name was changed.

In 2002 during the WWE Brand Extension, the title was exclusively competed in the SmackDown brand.

Hornswoggle was the last ever to hold the championship and after a six months absence, the title defunct on March 3, 2008.
